A new addiction




Agave syrup is a natural sweetener I discovered not so long ago, at an organic store. It is
derived from the extraction of agaves, the fruit of a cactus’ variety from southern Mexico.
       

The agave nectar, used for a long time in Mexico and already known by the Aztecs, is also called "honey water" or "aguamiel" because it is more liquid than honey.
Agave syrup is a great ingredient because of a very low glycemic index and is very useful for people who want to limit their sugar intake.
 
With its smooth consistency, it fits easily in juices and fruit cocktails, and only a teaspoon per glass is needed. 
You can also try it in hot drink, like coffee or tea, if it’s difficult for you to drink without sugar.         
Otherwise, if you like to cook for your family or friend, I have good news! Now, you can share a piece of cake without any anxiety for your glucose level because you can use agave syrup in all pastries: cakes, pies, icing or even chocolate mousse.
       
In summer, it can be useful to make ice cream for everybody!

People with diabetes and pastries: the beginning of a strong and lasting friendship

This is not a dream!!! The secret is that the baker uses fructose in his pastries instead of sugar for fructose has a lower glycemic index than sugar. In order to comfort you, we will just precise that the French baker works with a diabetes specialist. All his delights have thus been approved!
